Regularly Scheduled Events

Here is a list of some the regularly-scheduled SFFMC activities and events, followed by the calendar of regularly-scheduled events by day (Every Mon, 2nd Tues, etc):

Friday Night Jams - Musical meetings are every Friday at 885 Clayton, between Carl and Parnassus Streets in San Francisco starting at 8:00 PM and ending when the last person leaves. Folks drop in and out at any tine during the evening. There is a 'singing room' where turns are taken singing, requesting or just listening to songs on a pre-announced theme and two areas for instrumental jamming and/or spontaneous song swaps and group singing. There is no charge, guests are always welcome, no one is expected to "perform". Snacks are provided through a food kitty and donations of finger foods. Parking is difficult (there are usually some spaces two blocks away) but public transportation is excellent. Call 415-661-2217 for details on any of this. Plan to come and check us out! There are usually some 20 to 30 nice friendly folkies here, now and then more - this is a very big house with lots of room and can accommodate us all.

Hootenanny Night - Hootenanny is a free monthly acoustic music showcase held at the Cafe International on the second Saturday of every month. Shows generally run from 7pm-10:30. The Cafe International is at 508 Haight St (at Fillmore) in the Haight District in San Francisco. Hootenanny Night is mostly a performer showcase presenting folk and acoustic acts from all over the San Francisco Bay Area. Each show features 5 or 6 acts, and each one plays for 20-30 minutes. And, like the hootenannies of old, we encourage participation, so there are sing alongs and hour-long jams so that anyone can bring an instrument and get in the act.

Camp Harmony - Harmony is a five-day music and dance camp in the Santa Cruz Mountains between Christmas and New Year's. Each year more than 300 people from all over the world celebrate their collective love for acoustic music in work shops, nightly dances, concerts and jamming day and night, all in a beautiful mountain setting. San Francisco Free Folk Festival - Two days and nights of music and dance workshops, jams, and evening performances at the Roosevelt Middle School in the Richmond District in SF. For more than 25 years, the Free Folk Festival has provided music lovers of all ages the opportunity to experience and participate in many, many wonderful music and dance styles. www.sffolkfest.org (While you're there, be sure to click on the video link for a great little clip from the 2000 FFF).

Music Campouts - Three weekends a year--Memorial Day, July 4th, and Labor Day-- the SFFMC sponsors music campouts in the Bay Area, featuring lots of singing around the campfire, evening concerts, and other outdoor activities for the whole family.
