Seattle’s music and arts festival, held every year over the Labor Day Weekend, at the Seattle Center. Since 1971, Bumbershoot has drawn artists representing the best in music, film, comedy, spoken word, dance, theatre, performance, and visual arts. Details available at bumbershoot.org. Share
Sisters Folk FestivalSept 7-9
Held in Village Green Park and other venues in Sisters. Artists include James McMurtry, John Jorgenson Quintet, Mary Gauthier, and many others. American River Music FestivalSept 14-16
A celebration of music and moving water, this festival is held on the banks of the beautiful South Fork of the American River, in the Gold Country east of Sacramento, in Coloma. Artists include Birds of Chicago, Wheeler Bros., Tony Furtado, Joe Craven Trio, Poorman’s Whiskey and so much more. Activities include a whitewater river trip and a guided hike on the river. Burning Uke X CampoutSept 20-22
Little Basin Campground, Boulder Creek. Price: $80 for entire weekend (includes most meals) (Thursday through Sunday). Harvest Festival of DulcimersSept 22
Sponsored by the Southern California Dulcimer Heritage. This festival is for hammered and mountain dulcimers. Guest artists this year include Andy Young (Hammered Dulcimer) and Aaron O’Rourke (Mountain Dulcimer). The El Cerrito Free Folk Festival will be on hiatus this year, as the committee was unable to secure a suitable venue. Work is underway to secure a great site for the 2013 El Cerrito Free Festival.
