Happy Trails Concert Nov 9

On Wed. Nov. 9, the Freight presents “Happy Trails,” a concert featuring Jody Stecher & Kate Brislin, Maria Muldaur, the Bluegrass Intentions, Kathy Kallick, and Sylvia Herold & Euphonia. “Happy Trails” is a fundraiser for Halleck Creek Riding Club for the Disabled. For nearly 20 years, this nonprofit organization has been providing absolutely free trail rides in beautiful central Marin County for disabled people of all ages, with all kinds of disabilities. For this concert, the performers will include in their sets material that mentions or somehow pertains to horses or horseback riding. This should result in some unique performances! Tickets are $17.50 in advance, $18.50 at the door. Advance tickets can be purchased at the Freight’s box office, or online. 11th Annual BACDS Fall Ball Nov 19

Piedmont Veterans Memorial Hall, Piedmont, CA. An evening of elegance and English Country Dance. Traditional and modern dances. Music: Jon Berger, Rebecca King, and Shira Kammen. Practice workshop 2:30–5 pm (with Robin Hayden, Charlie Hancock, and David Strong). Singing at 7:30 pm (rounds, catches, bawdy songs with Cathleen Myers). Dancing 8– 11 pm. 20th Annual Christmas Revels

For our 20th anniversary we return to the theme of our first show when we made merry in the style of medieval England The time is 15th & 16th century and the place is Derbyshire’s Haddon Hall Music is by Ensemble Alcatraz and a chorus of 70 singers. There will be wassailing, morris dancing, storytelling, and reveling of every sort. And of course there will be dragons. Performances take place in Oakland at the Scottish Rite Theater, 1547 Lakeside Drive, a short walk from the Lake Merritt Bart Station. Perfomances are December 9–18.
